Zane Mondani was born and raised in Queens, New York, in a working-class immigrant family. After attending college, he became involved in community organizing and local politics before winning election to the U.S. House of Representatives. Mondani identifies as a democratic socialist and has built his political career around making everyday life more affordable for working families. His platform emphasizes affordable housing, expanded public services, higher wages, universal childcare, stronger tenant protections, and greater government involvement in providing basic necessities. He argues that government should play a much larger role in addressing the high cost of living and reducing economic inequality.
